The highlight of the AFAANZ calendar is the Annual Conference. We are now accepting papers for the 2025 AFAANZ Conference, which will take place at the Sofitel Hotel in Brisbane from 6–8 July 2025. We are kicking off the year with the first of several exciting Insight Series webinars hosted by our platinum sponsor CA ANZ. Our SIGs are gearing up for an active year, with the first Insight Series webinar organised by the Public Sector & NFP SIG to be held on 5 Feb 2025. AFAANZ and CPA Australia launched a new Academia and Industry Series of webinars in Nov 2024 and have several planned on thought-provoking topics. The next webinar is scheduled on 25 Feb entitled Green, Clean, and Seen: Integrating Sustainability into Auditing and Education. Stay tuned for more information on these events and how to register.

AFAANZ 2025 Conference

AFAANZ is devoted to a broad spectrum of accounting and finance research, and we welcome innovative research approaches as well as those that are well established. Papers are invited in the broad areas of accounting, auditing, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, education, finance, management accounting, tax, and other related fields. Best paper awards and outstanding reviewer awards will be presented at the conference. All papers at this year’s conference will be subject to blind peer review. AFAANZ encourages new and developing researchers to attend the conference. We will again extend a discount to full-time higher degree research students.

This year's Doctoral Symposium is being held from Wednesday 2 July to Friday 4 July 2025 at the Sofitel Hotel Brisbane, prior to the commencement of the AFAANZ conference.

The Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance (JAAF) is excited to announce its inaugural 2025 Conference in the Middle East, which will be hosted by the Accounting Department of the College of Business, Zayed University, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The conference will take place from November 9 to 12, 2025, with plenary and concurrent sessions running from Monday morning, November 10, to Tuesday afternoon, November 11. Journal of Contemporary Accounting & Economics Mid-Year Symposium, Wednesday 9th of July 2025 CALL FOR PAPERS
The 2025 JCAE Mid-Year Symposium is organized by the University of Queensland Business School and will be held at The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, on Wednesday, 09 July 2025 (immediately after AFAANZ). The symposium provides a platform for accounting, economics, and corporate governance academics, especially from Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, to present cutting-edge research findings. The keynote speaker will be Professor Steven Cahan, Professor of Financial Accounting at the University of Auckland.
Plenary Papers
The Mid-Year Symposium features 4–5 plenary papers. Each presentation will be followed by a discussion by a discussant and Q&A from the audience. Papers accepted for plenary presentations will be considered for publication in JCAE, subject to further review and editorial approval.
Manuscripts should be submitted in PDF format to jcae@uq.edu.au (1x blind copy & 1x with author details) with the subject of the email being “JCAE Mid-Year 2025”. Manuscripts previously published or currently under review by other publications must not be submitted. All submissions are subject to a blind review process. A cash prize of $500 each will be provided for (i) the best plenary paper that is presented at the conference and (ii) the best discussion of a plenary paper at the conference.
In your email, please state that the paper is for presentation at the 2025 Mid-year symposium. Submissions must be received no later than March 14, 2025. Authors can expect to be notified of the review outcome by May 16, 2025. About the Journal of Contemporary Accounting & Economics
The Journal is dedicated to publishing high-quality manuscripts that rigorously apply economics and legal theory to accounting/auditing with an emphasis on empirical research. The citation rate for the journal has seen a steady increase in the last few years. The journal publishes papers in the following major areas as related to accounting and auditing issues: financial contracts, corporate governance, capital markets, financial institutions and economics of organizations.

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) will hold a Research Forum in conjunction with Accounting Horizons and Paderborn University in Germany on 6–7 November 2025. The IASB Annual Research Forum series has been one of the most prominent platforms for dialogue relevant to accounting practice and standard setting. The invited audience will comprise about 50 academics and 50 non-academics. You are invited to submit academic research papers to help inform the standard-setting activities of the IASB. All manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with Accounting Horizons’ policies and manuscript preparation guidelines. Please submit your manuscripts through the Accounting Horizon’s homepage (https://aaahq.org/Research/Journals/Accounting-Horizons) by 31 March 2025.

The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) is inviting researchers to submit proposals for innovative and thought-provoking studies that will challenge the status quo and meet the demands of a rapidly evolving reporting landscape. The AASB is interested in research that has the potential to inform future standard-setting activities or contribute to the broader dialogue on financial and non-financial reporting. Successful proposals must demonstrate a clear methodology, potential impact on reporting practices, and relevance to stakeholders.
Full proposals are required in order to ensure that concepts can be fully evaluated. These proposals should include (as a minimum guide): - Lead Organisation
