Dear AFAANZ members, As we close out 2024, from all of us at CA ANZ, thank you for another wonderful year of partnership and achievement. While the premium we place on our partnership with AFAANZ is embodied in our platinum sponsorship of your organisation, it’s the day-to-day engagement, consultation and support that we value the most.
While I was unable to make it to Auckland for this years’ AFAANZ conference, our large delegation loved every minute. From the doctoral symposium to the special interest groups, CA ANZ is excited about the impact of our ongoing commitment to the academic community. Together, we’re collaborating on curriculum development, fostering connections between business and academia, and tackling the challenge of attracting young people to the profession. Changing young peoples’ perceptions of accounting through our Attractiveness of the Profession campaign has been – and will continue to be – a very significant investment by CA ANZ that will help encourage more people into accounting studies at university. Thank you to AFAANZ members who provided their input to – and who have so warmly supported – our innovative campaign. The conference was also a place for vibrant discussions about accreditation, trust in the profession, the CA embedded Masters pathway, AI in the profession and our world-class CA Program.
In the third quarter of the year, you may have heard about changes to our CA Program pathways that we’re going to launch in 2025. You can read more about the new pathways here. Designed to facilitate a more diverse CA Program candidate pool, they include the creation of a pathway for high school graduates called CA Fundamentals that we’ll be trialling as pilot program, and a revised CA Foundations (which has been around since 2015). I want to thank your presidents this year, Marvin Wee and Nives Botica-Redmayne, FCA for their very constructive engagement with us on these important changes and we look forward to sharing more information as we prepare for launch mid-next year.
We were again reminded of the power of our relationship when we hosted the AFAANZ Educator’s Forum in Melbourne recently. Beyond our pride in hosting the event, bringing CA ANZ and AFAANZ experts together created some memorable moments. Josephine Haste FCA really enjoyed delivering her session on the impact of biases in decision making. She spotlit the Columbia space shuttle disaster in 2003, which could have been averted if biases hadn’t affected decision making across management functions.
In a similar vein, just as our work together smashed through barriers and created greater understanding in 2024, I can’t wait to see what we can achieve in what promises to be an epic 2025 as our relationship goes from strength-to-strength. We wish you all a safe, relaxing holiday season. Simon Hann Group Executive, Education & Marketing |
